Our Day Our - swimming in the lake
Our Day Out

A warm welcome to everyone reading this. I hope that you have had a chance to get out and about during the summer months and experience the wonderful places we have here in the UK. I certainly have learned to appreciate our countryside, coast lines and nestling villages more than ever. I wanted to share with you an outing that I had the joy to experience with my daughter. We decided to drive to North Wales and back in a day and on a moment of mad inspiration, with no plans other than to try white water rafting. Fully booked, as with everything in August, we were unable to book a session but we, never the less, continued to drive to Snowdonia undaunted. The weather was becoming increasingly grey and overcast. We discovered a beautiful lake surrounded by mountainous hills – very peaceful and majestic.

We really wanted to go for a swim but it looked cold and rocky and we were a bit scared. Were there any beasties under the water out to bite us?  My daughter said “Fear it but do it any way.”  I found some courage and together we took the plunge, jumped in together and it was fantastic. Cold, but invigorating, fresh and we felt alive.  We had just created a lovely moment that we can share always.

I wanted to share this with you as we all have moments when we are unsure, out of our comfort and the fear of the unknown may make us falter from what we want to do.  My daughter gave me strength and encouragement to overcome my fears and doubts which turned out to be a wonderful experience.

So much so, we have become wild river swimmers so watch out for future blogs, they may well be about our new adventures.

By the way, if you look closely in the picture, you may see someone swimming in the lake.
